Our DMCplus is now up and running on this unit
The experiences from the project are broadly in line with the
other messages posted
Plant testing and controller implementation was a little tricky
but the final controller is very worthwhile; with benefits in
extra rate; less off specification products ; and minor benefits
in reduced energy usage.
The unit has a long steady state time, and this makes it tricky
to run manually. But , it is subjected to almost zero unmeasured
disturbances. I think this makes it a very good candidate
for DMC - and we can see that the controller can move the unit
rate very quickly with no product composition changes - a feed
move that the operators will take a shift to implement can be
made in less than an hour
